Birmingham, Alabama – When the leadership at National Bank of Commerce sought to
hire a new Chief Financial Officer, they turned to a familiar face. Longtime Birmingham
banker Will Matthews has rejoined his former co-workers at the bank after having
worked with the team in a similar position at the former Alabama National
BanCorporation.

Most recently, Matthews served as a director of National Bank of Commerce while
working as a partner at Birmingham private equity fund New Capital Partners.

“After working with this team for 18 years, I am very excited to rejoin my former
colleagues,” said Matthews of the former executives of Alabama National and now the
leadership team for National Bank of Commerce. “I am also pleased to continue my
affiliation with my friends at New Capital through their firm’s investment in the bank.”

“We are extremely excited Will has come to join our team full time. He is an outstanding
banker, he knows our history, understands our philosophy and he will quickly make his
mark on this company,” said CEO John Holcomb.

The Princeton graduate and Mountain Brook native has been consistently involved in the
Birmingham community through various civic boards, Leadership Birmingham, and
